SEaforth PTSA Minutes 10.15.25

Dr. St. Clair Updates

●     Approximately 1200 students at Seaforth.

●     Everyone is adjusting to Infinite Campus

●     October is College Application Month. About 40 colleges were represented on campus. Counselors and teachers are writing letters of recommendations for students . At the end of this month, there is the opportunity to complete the common app for free. Parent night for NC Connect last week for Seniors.

●     Pre-ACT for sophomores is coming up.

●     We are about 4 points away from being an A school. Student performance on tests is measured as part of this grade. Two sub-groups are underperforming, students with disabilities and EL Students

●     Athletic Updates…

Student Rep Updates: Vishva

●     Student sustainability club is requesting money for cleaning up around campus and planting flowers (thrift shop funds $22.50)

●     Mock Trial is wondering if PTSA could pay for senior cords and uniforms for competition $225

●     Model UN has $67.50 funding and are requesting funding for giftcards

●     Volunteering at Thrift Shop for clubs to earn money

●     Submit form online for requesting funds

PTSA Thrift Shop update (Emily)

●     Thrift shop hours do fill up quickly, last week in November there will be more hours posted

●     674.5 volunteer hours so far this year (last year we had 593 hours at this point)  we volunteered 273 hours in September alone

●     Opportunity to be a thrift shop volunteer supervisor. As a supervisor, you get time and a half. One hour orientation at the store with Tina Marie will allow you to be a thrift shop supervisor (9am-6pm orientations are available).

●     We officially received our check from the Thrift Shop in September for approximately $36,000

●      A little more than $18,000 already designated for specific clubs

●     We will hold out about $10,000

●      The PTSA will have about $7,000

●     All of the clubs who have money from the Thrift Shop were emailed (with the exception of a few)

Update on budget (Norm/Jason)

●     We are getting information from the State PTA about Quorom for voting on the budget

●     We reviewed proposed and actual budget

●     Jason made motion to vote on budget

●     Norm seconded the budget

●     Budget passed

Funding/Reimbursement requests

●     FFA funding request has already been paid out by Seaforth

●     Junior Marshalls funding request is being delayed for a discussion about other options for Junior Marshalls

●     Health Science and HOSA request is no longer needed

●     Honors Astronomy is requesting funding for a field trip for 11 students

We will clarify how the funding will be spent (bus driver…etc.)

We are supportive of the opportunity but need more information

●     Snacks and refreshments for teachers for Halloween (100 teachers and staff) Approved $100

Website information, updates, and requests (Claudia)

●     Pollard has a great website and we are going to migrate over to the same host (Givebacks) which is free
